Growing Up Spiritually

This powerful teaching challenges us to move beyond spiritual infancy and embrace the journey of spiritual maturity. Drawing from 1 Peter 2:1-2, we're reminded that just as newborns naturally crave milk for growth, we must hunger for God's Word to develop spiritually. The message presents five transformative steps for growing up in Christ: learning to forget our past failures and even past blessings, learning to forgive as God has forgiven us, developing an effective prayer life rooted in Scripture, cultivating genuine faith that believes God's Word over circumstances, and embracing authentic worship. The teaching on forgiveness is particularly striking, referencing Matthew 18:21-22 where Jesus tells Peter to forgive not seven times but seventy times seven. We're challenged to consider that holding unforgiveness hurts us more than those who wronged us, creating hardness in our hearts that blocks spiritual growth. The Abraham example from Romans 4 illustrates faith that 'considers not' the circumstances but believes God's promises despite what our natural senses tell us. This isn't about denying reality but about prioritizing God's truth above temporary situations. The call to worship transcends religious routine—it's about communicating to God how precious and valuable He is to us, creating an atmosphere where He speaks and moves powerfully in our lives.
